So I recently landed an awesome opportunity doing marketing for a major auto industry company, but it means that this 25-year old Arizona native has to move to Illinois by January 3rd. I'm looking for a place to live in the north/northwest suburbs of Chicago (within a 30min. drive from Vernon Hills, and preferably much less). I figure seeing if anyone on here is looking for/knows of someone who needs a roommate or is renting out a room, is just as good (if not better) than checking CL. At least this way I'd know that I've got one common interest with a potential roommate. I got my official offer this past Friday, so I'm working on a pretty short time frame. Any and all help is appreciated!

Don't have any suggestions people-wise, but as for places, I hear Wauconda is a good balance of affordability and reputation (I'm from Arlington Heights, so welcome to the area!). Also, try to stay out of C[r]ook County, as it's generally going to be more expensive.

If it's in your budget, I highly recommend Evanston, Glenview, Northbrook or Northfield.

I would check out the Des Plaines area. Straight shot up 294 to Vernon hills, and not necessarily too expensive.

That being said, there are always people renting out rooms in Ravenswood.
